Why is it so hard to make a sock???

Like I said in the beginning of this blog, for over 10 years I only made granny square afghans. And I didn't even make the ones that you sew together, just very large granny squares. When I tried sewing squares together (when I first started), they just didn't go together right. It was very frustrating... so I just stopped and stuck with my large granny square afghans.

Well now that I'm branching out - and having a great time with it - I've been getting crazy requests for items. It's been fun--- until I got to the socks.

I CANNOT make a sock! I do need to say I've only tried twice, so I do know eventually I'll make a wearable pair of socks.

I thought about posting my mistake here, but.... you guys are going to have to just wait for a real sock. Lol!

  1. I tried once, but it got so dang tight that I had to frog the yarn....but it got stuck and I had to cut it. Dang it.

  2. One time back in the '80s, I made Christmas stockings and they were crocheted ones. I don't remember how to make them, (obviously) but I do remember having to be shown over and over, how to do them. ( I have dyslexia, and do not grasp written directions, very frustrating and a real challenge. I also remember making 6 of them for my family members and deciding I would never make socks again. rofl

    Good luck Leslie,

    1. Thanks for the story... I'm glad you were able to make six - I still haven't mastered one!

  3. It's hard because you're crocheting the sock..nobody wears crochet socks(only the indoor sock shoes with animal faces and floor grippy dots)...knit'em!
